Reading:
We will begin our non-fiction unit this week. Students will learn all about non-fiction text features and how they help us learn about a certain topic. They will be encouraged to read non-fiction books in class as well as check one out in the library.
Writing:
We are also going the non-fiction route in writing as well. Students will be writing an informational piece about something they know a lot about.
Grammar/Spelling:
We are continuing to roll along with grammar.
Spelling list 11 came home yesterday. This week we are focusing on compound words.

Math:
We are continuing Unit 3. We will spend another week or so on time, and then move onto graphs. Please continue to practice math facts with your child at home. I have now switched them all over to multiplication in XtraMath as well.
Social Studies:
This week we begin a new social studies unit on Michigan History. This week we start off by learning who the Hopewells and Three Fires are.
Other News:
- Please don't forget to send your child with appropriate outdoor gear. Winter and finally arrived in Michigan and it is cold!
