Looking Ahead...

I hope everyone had a relaxing spring break! We took some time to share this morning, and it sounds like whether you traveled afar, or stayed right in Hudsonville, everyone had a great time!

Important Dates:
  • April 27 - M-STEP begins for 3rd Graders
  • May 3 & 5 - M-STEP for 3rd Graders
  • May 20 - Pizza with Parents (note date change)
  • May 27 - Field Trip (more details soon)
Reading:
The students have been working really hard on their SRC goals. They should be around 75% of their goal to be on track to reaching their goal in the end. Keep reading each night at home too! We have been integrating a lot of science during reading the last couple weeks. Its been really fun to learn about many different types of animals.

Writing:
Before spring break, students finished up their research on their chosen animal. They will now take what they have learned and write an informational piece about their animal. We will spend a couple more week on this unit.
*We will have two weeks left of spelling. Spelling will be done for the year the week our M-STEP testing begins! Thanks for practicing with your child each week!

Math:
We are spending time learning about fractions. We started with identifying unit fractions, fractions in a whole, comparing fractions, and this week finding equivalent fractions. We will wrap this up and assess some time next week.

Science:
We finished up our animal unit today. Students will be assessed on Friday. They will be expected to know the 4B's (Blood, Body covering, Breath, Babies) of each vertebrate group, as well as facts about animal adaptations. Watch for review sheets to come home mid week.

Other News:
  • A HUGE thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to be a mystery reader for our class during the month of March. We absolutely loved having you and hearing your stories. So again, THANK YOU!!!
