Looking Ahead...

Important Dates:

Reading:

Last Friday was the last day to take SRC quizzes for the current session. I am SO proud of all the students for their hard work and determination. We had a large number of students reach their goal, and many who surpassed it. Quizzes are not finished. Students will continue to take quizzes through the end of the year. Their goal will be much larger this next time around. They will have twice as much time to complete their goal, but I encouraged them to get started today! New goals will be set soon! Please remind your child to read each night and continue to fill out their reading log sheets. I only received 13 today. Eek! 

Writing:

We are well on our way to writing an informational piece. Students had to choose a topic that they knew a lot about. We took time to think about the important things related to that topic that need to be included in their writing. We organized it into a table of contents and will be writing these this week. We will finish them up before Christmas break. 

Math:

Today we finished the last lesson in Unit 2. We will review tomorrow and the test will be on Wednesday of this week. This unit was just like the first - an abundance of multiplication and division. The test consists of many word problems in these areas. Really not much they can study for, but it may be good to practice a few with your child. Samples will come home tomorrow on their review sheet. We will then dive right into Unit 3 which changes things up a bit. 

Social Studies:

Michigan History is still our focus for social studies. This week we will be learning about the British, as well as the French/Indian War. 

Other News:

• Don't forget to cut off and send in Box Tops! It helps raise money for the school! 
• Yay! We were the winning class for the PE CARES food drive. This means we helped feed a lot of hungry people. As a bonus, we get a bowling field trip. It's scheduled for this Thursday. We will be out of school from 11:45 - 2:15. Lunch will be provided, so no need to pack one for your child that day. Thank you SO much for sending in all the canned goods! You are all amazing! 
• Spirit Week! We are going to have a little fun the three days before Christmas break. Each day there is a suggestion of what your child can wear to school. (see separate blog post {coming soon} for ideas of how to dress your child that day)

• Tuesday, December 20 - Festive Holiday Wear
• Wednesday, Deember 21 - Christmas Morning
