Reading:
Students are well on their way to reaching their SRC goals. They should be around 25% of their goal by next Friday so stay on track to reaching their goals. An updated progress report will be in your child's mail today.
Writing:
Today we celebrated and shared their informational stories. They have worked really hard on these. It was exciting to share them with all the third graders. Watch for them to come home soon. Our next genre to focus on will be realistic fiction.
Math:
We will spend this week continuing to practice telling time, adding time, etc. This is a tough concept for third graders. It would be helpful if you could encourage your child to tell time on an analog clock at home as well. After time, we will learn all about the different types of graphs. Students will read graphs and make their own based on data that is collected.
Science:
We are changing gears and have switched to science for a bit. We are starting by studying light. We will spend a couple weeks doing some fun experiments with lights. You may have already heard about a couple of them. We've already talked about how light travels, shadows, and translucent, transparent and opaque objects. This week we will experiment with reflections, refraction, and colors.
