Reading:
Each day we spend time in what we call "super switch" groups. The students are all placed into small groups based on the specific reading strategy they are working on. It is still important to remind your child to read each night for 20-30 minutes.

Writing:
Last week we began our persuasive writing unit. Students made a list of "issues" they feel strongly about at home, school and within the community. They will choose a topic off their list that they feel strongly about, and then plan and write their essay.

Math:
After this week, students will have been introduced to all the multiplication facts between 0-10. We will continue practicing these facts in class, but will will be very helpful if you practice facts at home with your child as well. The rest of this unit is solving word problems that involve multiplication and division. The students will be getting a lot of practice.

Social Studies:
The students were so excited to begin learning about the history of Michigan. So far we have learned about the Earliest People and the Hopewell. This week we will learn all about the Three Fires. (Ojibwa, Potawatomi, and Ottawa)
