Looking Ahead... February 16-20

Important Dates:

• February 20 - Pizza with Parents 

Writing:

The students have their realistic stories planned out and are ready to write. Today they decided what the conflict would be taking place in their story. The rest of this week will be spent developing their stories. Toward the end of the week, the will learn the proper way to add dialogue into their stories as well. 

Spelling:

We are on week 17 spelling words. This week's focus is words that are spelled with ou and ow. Please help your child study these words at home. 

Math:

The students are doing quite well with 3 digit addition. This week will be spent doing 3 digit subtraction. Homework will be coming up Tuesday and Thursday. Please help your child, making sure they are ungrouping (borrowing) correctly, and not leaving out any steps. We will practice this all week. 

Social Studies:

We are taking a short break from science and will be learning about this history of Michigan. This week we will talk about the Early People, followed by The Hopewells, and end the week reading and sharing about The Three Fires. 

Other News:
*Keep sending in Box Tops. We are currently in the lead to win a pizza party. The challenge ends toward the end of February. 

*Pizza with Parents is THIS FRIDAY, February 20! Please have your orders and money turned in by WEDNESDAY. Plan on arriving to school around 11:40. Pizza will be served at 11:45.
