  • May 25 - No School - Memorial Day
  • May 27 - Talent Show

Writing:
The students have been working really hard on writing their animal reports. They will be wrapping them up this week. They will revise, edit and begin writing their final drafts. They will also be including some features found in non fiction books, such as a table of contents and glossary.

Spelling:
We are on week 23 spelling words. Please continue practicing these at home with your child. They have been doing awesome on their tests lately. Thank you!

Math:
We started out geometry unit last week. We learned a lot about quadrilaterals and how to classify them into groups. The next couple weeks we will focus on finding the area and perimeter of different figures. This is always difficult for third graders. You may see less homework than normal because many of these lessons take us two days to get through.

Science:
This week we will start a new unit all about Earth materials. We will also be talking about changes that can be made to the Earth's surface. Thank you to everyone who brought in sand from their southern vacations. We will be using that very soon!

Other News:
Our one and only field trip of the year is scheduled for Monday, May 11. We will be traveling to Frederik Meijer Garden to learn about simple machines. A bright orange slip came home last week in your child's folder. Please fill that out and send it back to school with $1 to cover the rest of your child's cost, by May 1. If you would like to join us, add that to the slip along with an extra $8. Looking forward to a great time!
