We have been practicing reading nonfiction texts and answering questions that relate to them. We are practicing good test taking techniques, as the M-STEP test is quickly approaching.
As of last Friday, students should be at 75% of their Scholastic Reading Counts goal. An updated report is coming home today.

Writing:
Students are writing their final drafts this week. They will include pictures, table of contents and a glossary with their final project. We will celebrate their hard work on Thursday and post assess informational on Friday.

Spelling:
We are on week 24 spelling words. This week we are spelling words that end on -or, -ar, and -er. We are also spelling words that have the final long e sound that are spelled with a y.

Math:
We ended last week by finding the area and perimeter of figures. This week will all be relater to area and perimeter as well. We will be finding the unknown side length when either the area or perimeter are given. We will be comparing area and perimeter and solving other various problems all related to area and perimeter. There will be math homework a couple times this week. Next week we will review and assess by Wednesday.

Science:
We continue our unit on Earth materials this week. We will wrap it up the beginning of next week and start simple machines so the students have a little bit of schema before going on our field trip.

Other News:
*Thank you to those who have sent in the field trip money. Another thank you to those parents who have already signed up to join us and help lead a group. Field trip money is due THIS FRIDAY!

*April, May and June Scholastic book orders catalogs came home last week. They are due THIS WEDNESDAY. Tons of great books! This will be the last book order that I place for this school year. A book fair will take place at Bauer in May.
