Looking Ahead...

Important Dates:

• September 16 - Early Release Day
• September 21 - School Pictures

Reading:

Library begins this week. In third grade, students will be checking out 3 good fit books. I will be spending the next few weeks during independent reading time getting to know each of the students as readers. This week we will practice reading response techniques, which will become homework the following week. (An email will come home soon regarding homework in 3rd grade.)

Writing:

Students will be writing their first on-demand (pre-assessment) writing piece this week. The rest of the week we will practice writing and increasing our stamina each time. Next week we will dive into the first personal narrative unit.  

Math:

We will be starting our first math unit this week. Unit 1 and 2 of math deal with multiplication and division. Watch for a parent letter to come home explaining how we do things once the unit gets underway. 

Other News:

• Another HUGE thank you for all the supplies that have been sent in for our classroom. It is all greatly appreciated. 
• Our first Scholastic BOOK ORDER is coming home today. You will find our classroom code on the front of one of the catalogs. Please consider ordering online. There are many more books to choose from aside from the catalogs I send home. If you are unable to order online, feel free to send in the order form with a check made out to Scholastic. There are so any fabulous books that scholastic offers. Worth taking a peek. Order forms will come home each month. Please have the September book orders in by Monday, September, 19.
