Reading:
Reading homework starts this week. Please have your child read 20-30 minutes each night and fill out their reading log when finished. I will collect these each Monday. (An email went home explaining how these work.)
Writing:
This week we will begin writing our first personal narratives. We will spend this week generating ideas, and then begin writing. We will learn how to write strong leads and endings, as well as fill our stories will many details.
Math:
We have started learning multiplication and the kids love it. We are taking these first units nice and slow. You will see a bright orange sheet of paper come home each time we learn a new set of facts.
Social Studies:
Today we began our first unit of social studies - the geography of Michigan. It's a favorite of mine. We learn all about Michigan's location, and important landforms and bodies of water that can be found in our awesome state.
Other News:
- The walk-a-thon is this Friday. If you would like to join our class on the back track, we will be walking from 10:45-11:30. Feel free to join us. Please make sure your child wears comfy shoes that day, and clothes suitable for the weather.
