Looking Ahead... September 29 - October 3

Reading:

This week in reading will we begin using Reading Response Logs. This is a tool we will use to aide in comprehension. The students are also encouraged to continue "stopping and thinking" about their story as they read. Scholastic Reading Counts quizzes will begin soon. Stay tuned. 

Writing:

We continue to draft, revise and edit our stories into great personal narratives. 

Spelling:

The third list of spelling words is coming home today. This week we focus on spelling partners for both short i and long i words. Please help your child study and practice these words at home too.  

Math:

We continue to learn more facts and practice our skills for multiplying and dividing. This week students will be learning their 4's facts, as well as 0's and 1's.

Other News:

*Please remember to send in your child's party money if you haven't already. We have parents busy planning fun holiday parties for these kiddos. 

*A paper regarding XtraMath is coming home today. Please follow the directions and use this new code to set up your child's XtraMath account, even if they have an account from last year. This way it will be set up under our 3rd grade class. I encouraged the students to practice XtraMath approximately 3 times a week at home. When your child first begins, it will review addition and subtraction facts. As soon as we have learned all the multiplication facts, I will switch it over to that.
