Looking Ahead... September 8-12

Important Dates:
  • September 9 ~ Vision Testing
  • September 17 ~ Picture Day
  • September 26 ~ Walk-a-thon

Reading:
We will begin the year talking about what good readers do. We will focus on choosing good fit books. These are books that are neither too easy or too hard. Reading homework starts tonight. Please have your child read for 20 minutes each night. Minutes can be recorded on their "Learning Targets" page.

Writing:
Our first writing unit begins by having the students write a personal narrative. We will talk about the good qualities of writing and focus on a detailed "seed" story.

Math:
This week we will begin our first math unit. We are diving right into multiplication. Please look for a parent letter that will come home in your child's folder on Wednesday. Math homework will begin Thursday.

Science:
This week we will do a few fun experiments to practice using the scientific method. Students will make predictions, test hypotheses, graph data, and write conclusions.
